BRISIN Scheme: Nigerian Govt opens portal for recruitment

The Federal Government has announced the opening of the recruitment portal for the implementation of the Basic Registry and Information System in Nigeria (BRISIN) scheme in the country. Dr Anthony Uwa, the Head of BRISIN implementation in Nigeria, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja. BRISIN is an integrated system for the collection, storage and distribution of information to support the management of the economy. The Agency also reports that the Federal Government plans to recruit 5000 unemployed Nigerians in the FCT in the pilot phase to drive the implementation of the scheme. Ogbeni demystified as Senator Adeleke beats him in his backyard Governor Rauf Aregbesola failed to deliver his home base of Ijeshaland to the All Progressives Congress candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party swept almost all the local councils. Osun election results: Adeleke leads Oyetola as PDP supporters jubilate

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is leading the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola in the total number of votes scored in the results announced so far. Out of the results of the 15 local government areas announced so far, Adeleke polled 126,475 votes while Oyetola trails him with 110,775. votes. Some CSOs campaigning against vote buying and selling in Osogbo,Osun State Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun, some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have called on the electorate to refrain from selling their votes. They made the call on Wednesday in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo. Alhaji Isa Adamu, the Lamido of Zugobia in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa has appealed to the state and Federal Government to collaborate in disarming nomadic herdsmen allegedly unleashing terror in the area. FRSC Recruitment: Screening, physical assessments begin Sept. 24

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has scheduled its screening and physical fitness assessment on recruitment for Sept. 24 to 29. Mr Bisi Kazeem, the FRSC Public Education Officer, said in a statement on Friday that the screening would be conducted in all the state capitals. Kazeem advised applicants to check their email used for submission of the applications on Sept. 19 for information on the exercise. “The email information will contain the venue, date, time of screening and required items to be taken along for the exercise,” he said. According to him, shortlisted applicants are to come with the summary data page earlier received and email notification slip which shall admit them to the screening venue. The FRSC image maker said that any candidate without the printout of the summary data page and notification slip for the phase of the exercise would not be admitted into the venue. Ademola Adeleke, the Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate to stop spreading rumours over the use of the N16.6 billion Paris Club refund released to the state by the Federal Government. Adeleke, at a news conference on Wednesday in Osogbo, accused the government of diverting the fund, which he said was meant for the payment of workers’ salary arrears and pensions. The PDP candidate said that any attempt by the state government to divert the fund would be resisted by the party. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has warned F-SARS, the reformed Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, to desist from checking citizens’ bank accounts details. The IG also warned the F-SARS operatives not to invade people’s phones and laptops unless they have a court order or an instruction from the commissioner of police in charge of a state police command. Anyone who violates the new rules would be dismissed from the force immediately, said the IGP during a workshop on the reformed F-SARS in Owerri, Imo state. Phones can transmit virus, germs, expert warns

A Public Health Physician, Dr Michael Oguntoye, has warned that mobile phones could transmit diseases and infections if it comes in contact with body fluids of an infected person. Oguntoye told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that phones are “fomites” which could serve as medium of transmitting viral organism, causing diseases and infections on people. He described fomites as any non-living object or substance capable of carrying infectious organisms, such as viruses or bacteria. “Taking a cell phone into the bathroom and then leaving with it, can carry diseases and germs, especially when you do not wash your hands and then coming out,” he said. According to him, phones can transfer diseases and virus from one individual to another. Oguntoye, an epidemiologist with Kwara Ministry of Health, advised people to keep phones away from the toilet and observe personal hygiene such as hand washing at all times.
